This is Congenital Heart Defect Awareness week. So many are touched by this birth defect. CHD is the most common occurrence of defect world wide. About 1 in every 110 infants will be born with a heart defect. Though technology and medical advancements have increased detection and treatment, much more needs to be done. It is estimated that more than 1 million adults in the US are living with CHD. In most cases it is a lifetime of heart treatment
As I have mentioned in a few blog posts I am participating in the Paper Heart Project, a photo movement to raise awareness for CHD. This group was created by a fellow photographer Danielle Awwad, of Little Farm Photography, LLC. This issue has touched her life personally, when her beautiful little one was diagnosed with CHD.
If you want to participate and share your photos on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter with the hashtag (s) #paperheartproject #CHDawareness. Take photos of people holding paper hearts, it's that simple to show your support. If you or your child is living with CHD draw a surgical zipper on your paper heart and add the hashtag #hearthero to your posts.
